Our Programs
For many people, weight management is a life-long process. It's easy to slip back into old habits. We realize that no two people are alike, and that weight management may require repeated and varied treatment. After all, obesity is a chronic disease. We can treat the symptoms, but the condition may return.
That's why the Center for Weight Management offers several options to assist you in your efforts.
OPTIFAST ® Program
This is a 16 week weight loss program recommended for patients that have more than 50 pounds of weight to lose.
For the grossly overweight person who is motivated to lose weight, the first place to start is with a medical evaluation that includes a blood work up, medical history and physical evaluation to rule out that the obesity is caused by a medical condition. If a medical cause is determined, the condition may be treatable medically or surgically.
This multifaceted program involves medical monitoring, use of meal replacements, and behavior modification. Long-term assistance for management of a healthy weight is also included. Treatment team consists of physicians, registered dietitians, and counselors.
This comprehensive program offers the following:
- Weekly medical monitoring
- Weekly nutrition and behavioral education
- 16 weeks of meal replacement products
- 4 weeks of personalized transition diets
- Laboratory work as needed
Optitrim
This program was designed for patients that are overweight but have less than 50 pounds to lose. A combination of nutrition supplements and one meal per day, this option involves weekly group session to help keep you on track.
This comprehensive program offers the following:
- Medical monitoring as needed
- Weekly nutrition and behavioral education
- 16 weeks of partially
- 4 weeks of personalized transition diets
- Laboratory work as needed
Nutrition Counseling
A registered dietitian can work with you to develop a personalized diet paying individual attention to your medical conditions. Individualized diets can help you control medical conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, renal disease, and gastrointestinal problems. Special diets can also assist you in controlling your cholesterol level or ensuring proper nutrition for pregnancy and breastfeeding. However you may simply want to learn how to incorporate good nutrition into your busy schedule.
Diabetes Counseling
A nurse-certified diabetes educator provides individual instruction on all aspects of diabetes management including blood glucose monitoring and insulin therapy. We will also provide you with individual food plans necessary to control blood glucose levels.
Adolescent Program
This program is designed for overweight adolescents. We offer a medically supervised program that follows the progress of each patient on an individual basis. It involves a medical screening and follow-up sessions with a dietitian over the course of the program. The child and parents will receive the education they need to change their eating habits to promote a healthier lifestyle.
Pre/Post Bariatric Surgery
For those considering bariatric surgery for treating obesity, this program can help reduce possible complications and improve the post-operative nutritional status. This treatment includes initial medical screening and pre-surgical weight loss using meal replacements. Post-surgical treatment includes medical, nutritional and behavioral intervention as well as long-term support.
